Signer Important Information:

Identification

Identification must be presented at the time of service by all signers unless the signers are personally known to me. Only valid, non-expired identification with a photograph is acceptable. These are set by the State of Texas and are not at my discretion. ID for online notarizations is confirmed by the RON platform.

Acceptable ID

Valid driver license or state-issued ID card from any US state or territory
Valid US passport
US military ID
Valid driver license or ID card issued in Mexico or Canada
Valid foreign passport stamped from the Citizenship and Immigration Services
Texas inmate identification, if signer is currently an inmate, issued by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division (“TDC card”)

Gym membership card
Student ID card
Medicare cards
Driver license or ID card without photo including a temporary license

Credible witnesses in lieu of signer ID

If a signer is without ID Texas law allows for two credible witnesses to vouch for the signer’s identity. Each credible witness must present valid identification and must know the signer well enough to be able to swear or affirm the signer’s identity.

Signers must be able and willing

A Notary will ensure a signer is mentally alert, aware, and is signing the document(s) voluntarily. This is particularly important for elderly or infirm individuals. If someone doesn’t understand the details of the transaction or are unsure about signing the document these concerns must be addressed.
